We’re still here! We survived the move, and have been taking advantage of the warm, sunny weather. Here’s what we’ve been up to this past month.
Some of our “packing.” It is a lot easier to move 6 miles than 2,000 miles.
I had a goal last winter of being able to run around the lake twice. I finally was able to do it a week before we moved. Now that we’re settled in, we’ve gotten back on track running, but good grief sooo many more hills than we’re used to!
When we went down stairs to organize our storage unit, we found our old play mat. The panda bear was always Baby Boy’s favorite, and I wanted to keep it. Either Baby Boy somehow remembered it or still likes it because he was very happy to see it again.

Modeling for Mama before church
Such a happy guy!
He’s also decided he wants to have a say in what he wears. He picked out the shirt and boots, and I insisted on the shorts.
Who needs pants?
Not this kid!
He was a great “helper” with the packing and unpacking. 🙂 Sorry it’s so hard to see, but he’s has a huge grin on his face.
He has learned how to take pictures with my iPhone.
And he knows to smile when we tell him, “say cheese!”
While on a walk, Baby Boy got a little warm and decided to cool off by sticking the top of his head in a water puddle.
This child loves ice cream!
Running off his post ice cream sugar high.
He gets so excited to meet pup-pups.
“Driving” in the car with Dada is one of his most favorite things at the moment.
He is all boy! He’s interested in cars, sticks, and here he’s investigating bugs.
It’s odd to see Baby Boy walk. He runs all the time.
It’s a good thing that John and I run so we can keep up with him. Here John is chasing after the little guy.
We caught him, and I’m holding him still for a quick picture.
He found lots of rocks. This is at Carkeek Park on Puget Sound.
Splashing. You can barely see the Olympic Mountains in the distance.
Getting braver and having a blast.
He doesn’t realize that Dada is about to catch him since it’s time to head home for dinner.
In his efforts to avoid getting caught, he ran back into the water, stumbled on a rock, and face planted in the water which he did not like one bit.
We striped him down and put on a dry diaper. Then we drove off leaving his clothes and shoes behind. Oops. I think we were all 3 tired at that point.
The next morning he did not want to wake up. He slept from about 7:45pm until I went in to wake him around 8:30am.
We’ve also been taking advantage of the swimming pool at our new apartment.
It can be a bit chilly for swimming by TX standards. The pool is heated, but as soon as he gets out of the water I have to take his swim clothes off, dry him, and wrap him up in a towel to keep him warm. I generally won’t take him swimming unless it’s at least 73 or warmer, but this past Sunday the boys wanted to go swimming. So for family solidarity, I went swimming in 65 degree sunny weather. It really wasn’t all that bad. I think we’re adjusting to the weather here.
Swimming also wears a guy out.
In addition to going swimming, we’ve also had a few ice cream outings.
Chocolate is his favorite so far.
The last time we went, he immediately knew where he was as soon as we pulled into the parking lot. He starting squealing, “Ice cream ice cream HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY!”
The little guy still loves checking the mail. If we walk past the mail boxes on our way to or from the pool, he gets upset if I haven’t brought the mail key with us to check the mail. Here he’s looking at a book his Aunt Sesa (Melissa) sent him. He’s also received a few things from his Nana. There’s almost always a treat for him when we check the mail.
This past Saturday we went to a puppet show at one of the local libraries put on by the zoo. The little guy enjoyed the puppet show. The guy in the picture was hilarious. He had both the parents and children laughing. After the puppet show, we could have stayed to pet a blue-tongued skink, but by that point, Baby Boy had a case of the wiggles and was ready to leave.
After church on Sunday, we decided to explore suburbia a little bit more. We found a PF Changs and a Disney store. I’m not sure who was most excited about the Disney find, but the little guy picked out a Mickey Mouse and hasn’t put him down since. During our move, I let Baby Boy watch way too much TV. I couldn’t stand another episode of Sesame Street or Scout, so I found a few Mickey cartoons on Netflix. Mickey is a huge hit around our apartment now.
He sleeps with Mickey, puts Mickey on the table to eat with him, he even took Mickey to Target with us this morning. Move over Elmo, there’s a new mouse in town.
