This past Saturday we took Baby Boy to the Seattle Art Museum. It was his very first trip to a museum, and he did great. Taking a toddler to an art museum was certainly a new way to experience a museum for John and me, but it was fun. They had a traveling exhibit, “Rembrandt, Van Dyck, and Gainsborough: Treasures of Kenwood House, London” that we started out with. Many of the paintings included Baby Boy’s interests: pup-pups (dogs), birds, and apples (all fruit). I doubt many of their visitors get as excited as he did. He did a little bit of pointing and squealing, and we talked with him about what he was seeing. It would have been nice to have spent a few hours there, but 1 hour with a 19 month old was pretty good. We then spent another hour looking at the rest of the museum.
