I know this post is a week late, but our 18 month check-up wasn’t until today.
His 18 month stats:
Height: 33.5 inches (85th %)
Weight: 27 lbs, 10 oz (75-90th %)
Baby Boy is a good eater. He eats pretty much everything we offer him. It’s easier to list what he won’t eat: green beans and pasta. If the green beans are pureed and mixed with some other foods he’ll eat them. We were able to get him to eat spaghetti by cutting up his spaghetti noodles to the size of rice. We’re pretty sure it’s a texture thing with the pasta and not the sauce because he spits out all kinds of pasta noodles with all kinds of sauces. His favorites include: apples, strawberries, lima beans, broccoli, cheese, yogurt, blueberry waffles, and ranch style beans with rice.
Baby Boy has quite a few words now, and it seems everyday he is picking up 1-3 more. Here’s a list of his words that I can remember:
Mama, Dada, Nana, Gandad (Granddad), Pup-pup (Puppy), Bew (Blue), No, Yes, Uh-oh, More, This, What’s that?, Bye-bye, Hi, Hello, (Eyebow) Eyebrow, Eye, Night-night, Juice, Awfle (Waffle), Apple, Nose, Car, Bus, Tatertot, Awpane (Airplane), Ba (Ball), Arrow, You, Bird, Thank You, Outside, and he has a really cute way of pronouncing his own name
After a very rough patch in December and January, we’re now back on track. Most mornings he wakes up between 7-8am, eats his lunch at 11am, and naps from noon-3pm. We start the bedtime routine at 6:45pm, and he’s tucked in his bed with lights out at 7:30pm. When he’s sick this all goes out the window.
This past week we had colds (again), and he had a couple of rough nights. I had John set up the air mattress in Baby Boy’s room, so I could just sleep in there with him. That gives us all the most amount of sleep when he’s sick. On night 3 of this, I had the air mattress all ready to go just in case it was needed, but I had every hope of sleeping in my bed. It was time to start winding down for the evening, so I told Baby Boy to start picking up his toys because it was almost bed time. Instead of picking up his toys, he took my pillow and blanket off the sofa, dragged it down to hall to his room, and positioned it all on the air mattress just like he sees me do when I sleep there.
Baby Boy is one of the happiest little guys. He loves music, and he loves to dance. He has a lot of energy. He is also pretty funny. This past weekend, John decided to take the entire weekend off. On Saturday morning, John and I were talking together and not paying complete attention to Baby Boy. Baby Boy walked over to John and tells him, “You. Bye-bye!” and then blew him a kiss. He enjoys being the center of our little world a little too much. 🙂
If you ask him how old he his, he holds up 1 finger.
He loves to go outside and play. I am so glad the weather is starting to improve so we can go to the park more often. Gymboree is always a favorite with him too, but his absolute favorite thing in the world is playing with his Dada. When he hears John’s key in the door, he squeals, “DADA!!!!” and bolts down the hall to the door. If he’s already started his dinner, he just about bounces out of his high chair.
A few weekends ago, we did a Saturday Gymboree class. Baby Boy and I went ahead out onto the play area while John went to the restroom first. On his way back from the restroom, he had to pass by the play area to go to the lobby area to take his shoes off. Baby Boy thought he was leaving, and it just broke his little heart! Next time John will have to either drink less coffee or hold it. 🙂
Now it might appear from the pictures that Baby Boy has fun only with Dada. Not to worry. We have fun too!
